Kevin Herod is Manager at Palmetto Health-USC Orthopedic Center in Columbia, South Carolina.  A native of Anderson, Ind., he received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Ball State University and a Master of Science in Sport and Leisure Management from Purdue University.

Prior to moving to Columbia, S.C. in 2005, Kevin spent eight years working as a clinical outreach athletic trainer in Indiana. At USC, his responsibilities include serving as the athletic training resident director, a liaison between physicians and athletic trainers, and supervisor of full-time, resident, and graduate athletic trainers that work in the orthopedic office.  He is a preceptor for USC’s Athletic Training Program. In addition, he develops and implements marketing strategies for USC Sports Medicine Center and coordinates medical coverage for outside events. He is a member of the NATA Athletic Training Physician Extender Executive Task Force, NATA Service Award, chairs the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association Awards Committee, and member of the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association subcommittee member for emerging practices.  Kevin has spoken nationally at the American Sports Medicine Society and the NATA annual symposium.  He received the NATA Athletic Trainer Service Award in 2014.

Kevin and his wife Jennifer, who is an athletic trainer for USC’s women’s volleyball and softball teams, have two daughters, Olivia and Aubrey.
