Mike McMahon began his athletic training career after receiving his master’s degree in athletic training from Weber State University and a bachelor’s degree in human biology with an emphasis in exercise science from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. He then went on to obtain a second master’s degree in healthcare administration and management with a specialization in project management from Colorado State University. In 2020 Mike also became a Certified Medical Practice Executive through the American College of Medical Practice Executives.

He serves as the Orthopedics & General Surgery Manager at Mammoth Hospital and the Mammoth Orthopedic Institute in Mammoth Lakes, California As part of his role at the Mammoth Orthopedic Institute Mike organizes the Mammoth Sports Course. The Mammoth Sports Course is a three day multidisciplinary sports medicine course hosted annually in the mountain town of Mammoth Lakes, CA. Mike has also served as the head athletic trainer for Mammoth Mountain Ski and Snowboard Teams and Mammoth High School athletics.

He also serves as a rotational athletic trainer for the US Ski and Snowboard Teams. Mike has also taken on the role of medical coordinator and provided medical coverage for numerous events including the Summer and Winter Dew Action Sports Tour, UCI BMX Supercross International, San Diego Bay Fair Boat Races, Seaside Beach Volleyball Tournament, Tough Mudder, Mammoth Half Marathon, and Ragnar Relay, among others.

Mike was a member of the Mammoth Medical Mission’s surgical strike team to the central Philippines in the wake of Super Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013. He is dedicated to the profession of athletic training and supporting athletic trainers in the physician practice.
