Marcus Washington is an athletic trainer in the state of Illinois, currently working in a physician’s practice in the college health setting of Northwestern University. He is part of the initial team involved with launching sports medicine services to the general student population within the college health setting. Marcus is also one of three athletic trainers involved in the treatment and care of competitive sport, intramural, and recreational student athletes.

Marcus received a degree in Athletic Training at the University of Iowa. Immediately upon graduation he began his career working for AthletiCo as an outreach AT at Maine East HS in Des Plaines, IL. He spent 5 years at AthletiCo working with a number of other organizations including USA Soccer, USA Gymnastics, USA Ice Skating, Midlands Wrestling and a variety of leagues in Chicago. Marcus transitioned to the clinical setting in 2013 when an opportunity arose for a position at Northwestern University Student Health Services – Sports Medicine Department.

Since his transition to the clinical setting Marcus has been involved with the coordination of increased access to sports medicine services for club/recreational/intramural sports. He has also assisted in the instruction and education of fellows, residents, and medical students from Northwestern Medicine, Lurie Children’s Hospital, and Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. Presently his is one of the clinical/operational leads for coronavirus testing of staff and students on the NU Campus.

A native of Illinois, Marcus is an active member of the IATA, GLATA, and NATA as well as the ATPPS. He enjoys traveling, bike riding, and trying new cuisine. Marcus and his wife Lindsey, who works as a private chef, currently reside in Evanston, IL.
